Ace Combat 7 Mission 9 Faceless Soldier Walkthrough

Ace Combat 7 Mission 9

<<<PREVIOUS: MISSION 8 | NEXT: MISSION 10>>>

In Ace Combat 7, Mission 9 picks up where Mission 8 left off. After your success in Mission 8, many of the higher-ups in the military are beginning to view your penal unit as a serious fighting force. That’s why they’re sending you on an offensive mission this time. This mission is a good one, and it has one of the better moments in the game towards the end of the mission. Want a hand with this one? Nerds and Scoundrels has you covered! Keep reading for our Ace Combat 7 Mission 9 Walkthrough.

The purpose of your mission is straight-forward: find and destroy the comms facility in the north in the Wiapolo Mountains. The drone army relies on this network; taking it out will greatly reduce its effectiveness. You have 15 minutes to complete the mission, which is effectively split into two parts.

When the mission begins, you have a series of targets marked on your map. You don’t need to kill them all, but frag as many of them as you can. The hitch in this mission is that you must stay low enough to avoid radar detection. The enemy has missiles everywhere, and peaking out of the cloud cover for more than a second or two will get you a missile lock. You’ll need to fly below the clouds as much as possible; only come out of cloud cover when it’s necessary to kill a target. Once you take out most of your targets, you’ll get a notification that allied fighters are incoming.

Form up on Trigger

Unfortunately, those allies aren’t friendly. They are indistinguishable on your HUD from your mates, but they are intent on picking each of you off. Your only option is to have your remaining penal colony pals form up on you and fly in formation so you can identify friend from foe. Once you form up together, command is able to mark everyone else as hostile. Time to take them out.

Taking out the hostiles isn’t the end of your trouble. Once they are cleared, your radar picks up something incoming that is too fast to be a plane. It’s a massive long-range missile launched from the Arsenal Bird, codenamed “Helios.” This is where you need to keep an eye on your map. The impact zone of the Helios missiles are marked in red circles. Stay out of the circles and you will be fine.
