Ace Combat 7 Mission 10 Walkthrough
Your mission starts with an operation to re-take the base on Tyler Island. Your role is to provide support and make sure Commander McKinsey arrives alive. This is easier said than done, as McKinsey’s cargo plane is dead meat if he gets hit with many SAMs. What’s tricky about this mission is that the SAM sites are hidden until they open fire. That means you’ll need to watch for the smoke trails when they fire and take them out immediately. Helpfully, we have a map below of where you can find the hidden SAM sites (h/t Reddit)
The best process is to take out the first 3 sites immediately, as you’ll essentially fly right over them. From there, just make small circles above the general area where the SAM sites are located. Watch for the smoke trails when they fire and take them out.
Of course, that’s not the only hostiles you’ll face. There are a few waves of enemy fighters that appear, and they will key in on the transport immediately. Your NPC brethren are useless against the fighters, and they will kill the transport in short order if left to their own devices. That’s why you need to break off from hunting SAM sites and kill the enemy fights as soon as they appear.
You can use standard missiles to take out the SAM sites, but you’ll likely want long range missiles against the hostile fighters. Once the SAM sites are dead, you can focus on killing the waves of enemy fighters. Many of the waves spawn in the same spot, so hang around there and melt the bad guys as soon as they pop up if the SAM sites are already dead.
