Stardew Valley Strange Capsule | What is It, Where Do You Get It?

stardew valley strange capsule

Stardew Valley has some insanely specific mechanics, especially in patch 1.5. One of them is a completely random event that happens on your farm. The Strange Capsule event occurs after year 1 on your farm. It plops down an item that seems… suspicious, to say the least. What does the Strange Capsule do? Should you be worried? Find out, in our Stardew Valley Strange Capsule guide!

Strange Capsule in Stardew Valley

The Strange Capsule has a fairly rare chance of occurring on a farm where there is room in your farm for an item to spawn. Sometimes, you can roll the event and the randomly selected tile will be filled anyways.

The item spawns after a unique UFO sound effect, landing in your yard. Within the capsule appears to be a fleshy substance, which floats up and down. You can pick it up and place it in your inventory, where the description states the same thing.

After three days, the Strange Capsule becomes the Empty Capsule, where the fleshy thing appears to have broken out of the glass. That means an alien is now amongst you…

What Happens?

Thankfully, very little comes from the Strange Capsule event! After the glass shatters, there’s a 1% chance that you see a dark creature at the bus stop and in town. The creature waves, and does nothing else, as far as we can tell! It’s just something to spook you during the night, and is likely a reference to a myriad of similar alien movies, which tend to have these capsules in them.

Patch 1.5 did two things to the Strange Capsule. It guarantees that the Strange Capsule breaks in 3 days, starting when the morning starts. It also made the event much less rare, so now you’re nearly guaranteed to have that creepy alien appear. Fun…? Well, at least it’s harmless!
