Before you can take on the Great Colored Carp, you will need to first defeat the Divine Dragon as well as the Guardian Ape. Once you have bested those two, you can take on the big fish. Head to Great Sakura in the Fountainhead Palace. There, get into the water and swim to the submerged house on your left.

Look for an NPC who will tell you about the giant carp that lives in a cave nearby. After the conversation, you will discover the cave is right next to the NPC. Head into the cave and go underwater. Here, you’ll come face to face with the angry carp. Use your surroundings to avoid big attacks. You’ll need to swim through the house to the other side. There, you’ll find the Palace Grounds idol. From here, feed the Carp some Precious Bait that can be found in the Guardian Ape Watering Hole.

Great Colored CarpNext, travel to the Dragonspring idol in Hirata Estate. There, you will find a bizarre vendor inside of a pot overlooking the lake. Purchase a few items from the pot vendor until you are given the option to talk with him. Eventually, he will give you a different kind of bait that will kill the carp. Take it and head to the Feeding Grounds idol.

When you arrive, ring the bell to call the Carp to you. Select the special bait and throw it into his mouth. Now, all that’s left is to teleport back to the Guardian Ape Watering Hole. When you return to the fish, it will be dead. Pick up the item in front of it to obtain the Great Colored Carp achievement. Also, if you return to the pot vendor he will give you some Lapis Lazuli for your trouble.
