It’s an important skill, as drinkable water isn’t always available despite the map being covered with the stuff. You probably won’t be shocked to learn that you can’t drink salt water. (who could have seen this game design coming?) That’s why the drink command won’t work anytime you are at sea, or in a large body of water attached to the ocean. Anything that is salty is no good to drink. Got it?
How to Drink Water in Atlas
Drinking water is easy, once you find it. To drink, must navigate to a body of clean water and press E.ย You will need to be looking down into the water for the command to work.ย One of the more useful pieces of crafting you can do is a water skin, which allows you to carry water with you. Be sure to refill it regularly though, as it will leak out over time.
Finding Water in Atlas
The easiest place to find drinking water is on starting islands. On most starter islands you will find a large Tiki statute or rock carving. There are always small bodies of drinkable water near them, so be on the look out.
Another trick for finding drinkable water is digging for it. This is possible on most green areas of the map. To dig for water, simply crouch down and look at the ground. When you do this, Press X. If water is available, you will start digging for it and soon be able to drink. If you attempt to dig for water in other areas other than grassy, green parts of the map you will get a pop-up telling you that water is not available.
