Ace Combat 7 Mission 18 Walkthrough
Let’s face it, the assault on Tyler Island was a debacle. Now that the objective is lost, your commander is focusing on merely surviving. The new plan is to make your way to Shilage Castle, where a small Erusian splinter group has holed up. They are using the castle to stockpile supplies which you desperately need. Your squadron will go in first to clear the way for a supply plane.
The briefing makes it clear that the only hostiles you need to be concerned with are in the air, so choose your plane with that in mind. 
The good news is that while you still lack satellite support for IDing hostiles, you don’t have to worry about friendly fire. There are no allies nearby, so anything that’s in the air and not in your squadron is a hostile.
To begin, take out the smattering of anti-air batteries. There are a fair amount of anti-air, but they pose essentially no threat to you. Clear them out as quickly as you can. Once you do, you’ll start picking up chatter about the hostiles scrambling interceptors. Even better, it sounds like it’s Sol Squadron.
Sol Squadron Showdown
When Sol Squadron hits the field, they start in with the trash talk immediately. But this isn’t the Battle of Farbanti, and this time they are way outnumbered. Oddly, Mr. X isn’t with them, so his four squad mates are struggling to keep up. That is, until you get target locked from a long distance by an unusual projectile weapon. Oh look, it’s Mr. X!
Mr. X, also known as Mihaly, orders the rest of his squadron to fall back. It seems he’s accepted this is his last fight, but he wants to make it yours too. Your squad mates pull off as well, and it’s finally time for the 1 on 1 showdown you’ve been waiting for.
Like with other run-ins with him, it’s clear Mihaly is a strong enough pilot that he can mitigate damage even when hit. Be prepared to have to wear him down. This dogfight is interesting, not because it you face unbeatable odds but because the two of you are so evenly matched. Just approach this dogfight like you would any other, but stay out of the gun sights of his railgun. Once you take him down, he’ll plead with you to eradicate the drone army the Erusians rely on. Will you take him up on that challenge?
Mission 18 Achievements
There is only one achievement directly tied to this mission. If you complete Mission 18, you will get the Let’s Settle This achievement. There are, of course, a variety of other achievements you can get that might culminate in Mission 18 depending on how you have played through so far. Spawn the Ace: Lynx
The dogfight with Mihaly is the main event, but you can also spawn another ace: Lynx. To get him, destroy all the enemies along the route to Shilage Castle. You’ll need to get there within two minutes and thirty seconds. You can find Lynx to the north of the castle.
