The bad guys have some nice looking facilities in Cape Rainy. In Mission 14, it’s your job to jack them up. To get there, you’ll need to navigate through a steep canyon in the middle of the night. Ace Combat 7 Mission 14 Walkthrough
Your mission opens at night and is broken into two parts. The end goal is to hit the enemy facilities, but in the first part of the mission, you have to get into position by navigating a cloudy canyon at low altitude. Your weapons are locked in the canyon, and you must stay low to avoid missile warnings. What’s more, there are spotlights looking for you in the canyon so you need to move quickly. You have 20 minutes in total to complete Mission 14.
If you are careful, you can beat this mission in any plane. But there are two things you really want to consider: maneuverability and wingspan. This canyon is narrow. Fighters like the X-02S struggle based on their wingspan alone. While the Mig31 is popular due to its speed, it’s almost a hindrance in this setting. One of the most popular options among players is the Gripen E, but generally the smaller the wingspan the better.
Navigating the Canyon
During the first part of your mission, don’t go higher than 600 meters. You will immediately draw missile fire if you do. Also stay out of the beams of light, as hostile spotters will see you. (How they don’t see your afterburners or hear the jet fighter roaring through their canyon is another story.)
As far as strategy goes, you can generally burn your best speed to the third waypoint. Go as fast as you can here and avoid the spotlights. After the third waypoint, you’ll be facing steeper turns. Go as slow as you comfortably can and navigate carefully. If you’re feeling lucky, pick up your speed and execute High-G turnsย on those difficult corners.
Hitting the Airbase
Once you pass waypoint four, you’ll be in the clear. The canyon opens up to reveal the airbase, and it’s time to start fraggin’. Prioritize the searchlights surrounding the base. Whenever the ground forces as for help, go to them. The last thing you want to do is lose the mission because the ground troops failed. Once you clear the base, expect a wave of incoming fighters. There’s nothing remarkable about them; just take them out like you would any other fighter. As you are dogfighting, you can listen over the radio as the ground forces take the base. It’s a minor but immersiveย part of the game that I love.
