Are There New Subclasses in Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel?
If you pick up Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel, you will unfortunately not discover any new subclasses to speak of. In fact, there are virtually no new player options included in this book at all. This should probably come as no surprise. Just like with Candlekeep Mysteries, this book is focused on adventures. In addition to subclasses, there are also no backgrounds or races to speak of.
The lack of new options might be disappointing for some, but there is plenty to like with this new offering. The creative team behind the Radiant Citadel are diverse, and they bring a new perspective to official D&D content. The adventures themselves are a lot of fun, I recommend trying them. In my view, they will pair especially well with a Spelljammer campaign.
What Does Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel Offer
What the book lacks in player options, it makes up in adventure tools. The book starts with a primer for the Radiant Citadel, which is a fun setting that I highly recommend. This setting can be slipped into most fantasy campaigns. It makes for a great spot for a side-quest. Each adventure also includes mini-gazeteers of the areas the party will explore.
