Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the newest release from developer Owlcat Games. An impressive CRPG in its own right, the game still has many secrets for its players to uncover. As well as many quests that can prove to be quite challenging for those unprepared. So we’ve put together a quick guide for the quest ‘On the Cusp of the Abyss’.
Where to Find the Quest
‘On the Cusp of the Abyss’ is a quest that you can find after you’ve done the ‘Know Thy Enemy’ quest. After you’ve finished, return to Drezen and speak with the Hand of the Inheritor. The goal now in this quest is to find a way to break the demonic seal that locks the entrance to Midnight Fane.
Breaking the Seal
Before you can progress in this part of the quest you’ll need to make sure that you’ve progressed in your 4th level Mythic Quest until you reach Areelu’s laboratory. Then you can head inside where you’ll find Areelu’s Lexicon of Paradox. Using this you can now break the demonic seal and make your way inside Midnight Fane. Return to the seal and wait for the arrival of Queen Galfray, which may take a while so just keep waiting.
Finding the Three Keys
Once you’ve reached Midnight Fane you’re going to have to find three keys (Baphomet, Deskari & Nocticula) to enter the Center Hall. But be careful since this area can be pretty tough for those who are unprepared. One key can be found on a cultist near the Baphomet statue in the western hall. Another can be found in the eastern hall on a cultist near the Deskari statue. The third is on a Demoness in the Abyss, though this is optional if you’ve passed the Will check.
Prepare for Battle
Once you’ve made your way into the center hall after collecting the three keys, you’ll encounter some powerful enemies. Including Playful Darkness, a very tough enemy which will require some serious strategy. Once you’ve dealt with Playful Darkness you can continue on to the final area of the quest. Here, you’ll encounter Darrzand and will have to fight him. Once he’s defeated, you can have a conversation with Queen Galfray and that will be the end of the quest.
