Forspoken How to Counter Guide

Forspoken has taken the world by storm recently, and everyone is looking for an edge when slinging magic and taking foes. A big part of your strategy should involve mitigating your damage, however there is not a traditional “block” button in the game. Thankfully, you do have a few options to counterattack. You can learn how to do just that with our Forspoken How to Counter Guide.

How to Counter in Forspoken

Forspoken how to counter

Countering can quickly become an important part of your battle strategy. Even though there is no button that blocks strikes in the traditional video game style, counter attacking provides you with some chances to not only mitigate damage but also punch back at your enemies. In this game, counters involve the use of your sentient bracelet, Cuff.

If you haven’t come across it yet, there is a handy in-game tutorial that covers the basics of countering. You can find this tutorial in the middle of a boss fight against a Recreant Knight. Unfortunately, the tutorial is not overly helpful beyond explaining to you that counters are possible.

While there isn’t a Block button, Cuff acts on its own to block some general attacks. If you are hoping to counterattack, it is important that you turn off auto-evade. With that setting active, you won’t be able to block or counter. At this point, you only need to wait for Cuff to block an attack and then hit the Triangle button (for PS5) to counterattack.

What is a Precision Counter?

Some counterattacks are so precise that they will deal significant damage while healing you at the same time. These are known as precision counters, and they can be tough to land. A precision counter attack occurs when you hit the counter button at the exact moment when Cuff blocks the attack. When successful, precision counters deal more damage while also healing your injuries.
