The Division 2 Dawns Early Light
After the opening moments and some cut-scene backstory, it’s right into the action! You start the game half a mile from the market that initiates the first mission. You’re tasked with making to the White House lawn and meeting with the commander of The Division there.
You won’t find any hostiles immediately upon loading, so you can play around with how maneuvering works and how to jump over cover if you like. Otherwise, just head straight for the marker. When you get close, you’ll hear an announcement that the White House is under attack and see a rocket strike the landmark. That’s your clue that it’s go time! Stay still, and you will hear three Hyenas arguing nearby. These level 1 hostiles have set up a roadblock and you have to kill them all, but they’re not much a threat. They do have grenades, however. Don’t die to them, or you’ll bring shame to your people.
You won’t see action again until you hit the White House lawn. There are quite a few enemies here, and at least one that is armored. They have plenty of cover, so take your time to frag each of them. Watch for grenades here as well. When you’ve killed them all, the mission prompt will tell you to enter the White House. Head inside and go up the stairs. Follow the prompt into the room where The Division is headquartered. You’ve now unlocked your Base of Operations.
Meet the Division Coordinator
The combat portion of your mission is done. Get some backstory from Manny, the coordinator, and go see the quartermaster as he asks. Don’t forget to equip any loot you want to use, as it doesn’t auto-equip. When you’re done gearing up, it’s time for you to head to the Theatre and meet with their leader – Odessa Sawyer.
You can use the map screen to get an idea of where The Theatre is, as well as map a path there. Your trip will be short, but be aware that random meetings can happen in the open. Be on your toes. When you approach the hotel, your radio will open about where to meet Odessa. That’s your queue that there are bad guys to kill. Wipe them out and start the second mission.
