Unlike the Miner though, you are not guaranteed to acquire an additional gem every time you are looking for gems. The Geologist path will lead you into the Excavator or the Gemologist at level ten; another two professions that can jump-start your income.
So which path would I consider to be better in the end? Honestly, it depends on what kind of income engine you would like to base your game around. The Miner has an immediate impact on the game, while the risk the Geologist offers will pay much more handsomely than the Miner. The Miner’s late game is much more profitable than the Geologist. It really does depend on how you want to play the game.
Is the Geologist Bad?
No, the geologist isn’t bad. In fact, it is strong later in the game. It may be tempting to consider switching to the Geologist profession later in the game using the statue in the sewers, but this decision can ultimately be a waste of time and resources. Instead, it may be more efficient to choose the Geologist profession from the beginning in order to benefit from the increased ore yield.
