The Handmaid’s Tale
Based on the 1985 Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, The Handmaids Tale has become one of Hulu’s flagship original shows. The plot follows a dystopian future in which a Second Civil War left religious extremists in control of most of the United States. Fueled by a global fertility crisis that saw childbirth dwindle to almost nothing, the new society of Gilead subjects fertile women to bear the children of important figures within the totalitarian order.
