How to get a Soulmate in CK3 | CK3 Soulmate Guide

ck3 soulmate

One aspect of Crusader Kings 3 that is awfully similar to CK2 is the options for relationships between two characters. There are lovers and concubines, and these relationships can produce anything from a child to a disease. However, there are also some new options available to your favorite ruler. One of those options is having a soulmate. Learn all about it with our CK3 Soulmate Guide.

CK3 Soulmate Guide

As the devs made clear in Dev Diary 15, a soulmate is a more powerful version of the Lover relationship. So what does that mean? The only noticeable difference between the two is the bonus to opinion. The Lover relationship gives a +60 opinion bonus to the two parties in the relationship. The soulmate, on the other hand, increases that bonus to a whopping +120. This is unmatched outside of the Best Friend relationship, which does not offer the other boosts described below.

Outside of this bonus, there is no difference between soulmates and lovers. Both relationships give a bonus of +25% to fertility. Both relationships also increase stress by ten when one character in the relationship dies.

Getting a Soulmate Through Romantic Schemes

To obtain a soulmate for your character, you must successfully complete the Romance scheme. It’s not as simple as diving into the scheme, however. For starters, there is no guarantee that a successful scheme will result in a soulmate relationship. In many cases, a successful scheme will only result in the two characters gaining the Lovers relationship. Additionally, the target of the scheme must have the correct sexuality for it to be successful.

The success of a romance scheme depends on a few factors, including:

  • Target opinion
  • Trait compatability
  • Target’s opinion of their spouse, if they are married

Nerds and Scoundrels

That wraps up our CK3 Soulmate Guide. While this option gives a powerful opinion bonus, it is mechanically similar to the Lover relationship. The interesting aspect of this relationship in CK3 is that it is achievable through a specific scheme.
