Warforged are deeply driven, extremely strange creatures. Given their status as constructed beings, many didn’t get a designation. Other warforged lived with a designation that did not mean anything at all. That means a Warforged changes their name almost entirely based on the people and places it’s around. Please, think of your background for your Warforged before selecting a name. Their existence is a huge part of them.
How Do You Name Warforged?
Originally, Warforged had little more than a weapon and orders to kill. They were soldiers, existing to serve and battle. They were encouraged to focus entirely on the reason they were built, and punished if they deviated.
Now, with Warforged officially considered living entities, they still have trouble fully adapting to society. Barred from expressing emotions, they tend to just stick to a single purpose and go with it. As Warforged grow and mature around others, they start expressing themselves and exploring their personalities more and more. They can even find a new religion, or practice magic.
Warforged have trouble committing to standard relationships. It is impossible for them to start a family. However, if they acquire a gender identity or a specific design for their bodies that they prefer, they can have an Artificer adapt them. That lets them better fit into whatever society they wander to.
Warforged can also be identifiable by their quirks. Some have horrid design problems from their time at war; a Warforged made as a tactician, for example, might have trouble not identifying exit plans. Or a Warforged made as an arcane bombardier might see the first solution to problems as “explode it.”

Do Warforged Pick Their Names?
At the time of their creation, Warforged were typically given numbers instead of names. This represents the view that they were little more than tools of war, at least at first. Over time, the Warforged earned their freedom. With that freedom comes the ability to choose their own name. Other warforged might retain a name that they were given by their creator.
