The bulk of the progression system is built around unlocking new costumes for the variety of characters available. Unfortunately, this process can be a little confusing and has led to a lot of complaints from fans on Reddit. Stick with Nerds and Scoundrels as we break down how to unlock costumes in Dead or Alive 6 in our Dead or Alive 6 Unlock Costumes Guide!

Dead or Alive 6 Unlock Costumes Guide

Unlocking costumes isn’t as straightforward as you might like in Dead or Alive 6. In fact, the process has raised some complaints due to the high costs and random nature.

There are two main components you need to acquire to upgrade a costume:

  • The Costume Parts that make that costume, and
  • Player Points

Getting Costume Parts

Acquiring costume parts has easily become the most derided part of unlocking costumes in Dead or Alive 6. To get parts, you need to complete any of the game modes of DOA 6. However, until recently, only the DOA 6 main quests gave even an average amount of costume parts out. While the rates of costume parts drops has supposedly increased 10 fold, it remains to be seen if it is still a hassle or not.

The other frustrating part regarding costume parts hasn’t changed as of the time of writing. The issue is that when you acquire costume parts, it is entirely random which costume and which character the points apply to. Not only can you not pick the costume parts, the drops don’t correspond with the character you were playing when you earned the parts. The end result is potentially earning a ton of costume parts for costumes you hate on characters you don’t like to play. There are instances of the game applying enough points to a certain costume and simply throwing out the remaining points if you unlock it.

Getting Player Points

Player Points are the in-game currency of Dead or Alive 6. You will need to accumulate a certain amount of Player Points for every costume you want to unlock, even if you have all of the costume parts that you need. While frustrating, the points system hasn’t generated the rage that the costume parts system has.

Other Ways to Unlock Costumes

There are, of course, other ways to unlock costumes. There will be a number of costume sets available through DLC as well as the numerous pre order bonus costumes that were distributed. The easiest way to pick up the most costumes is by purchasing the Season Pass 1, but that has its own detractors given that it costs a whopping $93 US. But if you don’t mind spending some cash, those costumes come pretty easily!
